Effective date: 7 October 2026
These terms apply when you use Tsumo by NhakaBox ("Tsumo", "the app") on iPhone or Android, and when you buy Tsumo Premium in the app or on our website, nhakabox.com. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.
1. Who we are
Tsumo is made by NhakaBox ("NhakaBox", "we", "us"), based in the Netherlands.
- Email: tsumo@nhakabox.com
By creating an account or using Tsumo, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Tsumo.
2. Who can use Tsumo
You can use Tsumo if you can enter into a contract where you live. Tsumo is a general-audience educational app. If you can't yet enter into a contract, for example because of your age, ask a parent or guardian to agree to these terms for you before you create an account.
3. Your account
- You need an account to use Tsumo. You sign in with Sign in with Apple on iPhone, or Sign in with Google on Android.
- Your account uses the email address from your Apple or Google account. With Apple's "Hide My Email", this is an Apple relay address.
- You have one account per platform. Your iPhone account and your Android account are separate and not linked: favourites, scores and Premium on one don't appear on the other.
- Keep your Apple or Google account secure. Anyone who can use it can also use your Tsumo account.
- You can sign out or delete your account at any time in Settings → Account (see section 14).
4. Our content and your licence to use it
Tsumo's content belongs to NhakaBox or the people who license it to us. This includes the selection and presentation of the tsumo, the translations, meanings, usage examples and background notes, the audio recordings, and the app's design, images and software. Traditional Shona proverbs are shared heritage; these terms don't stop anyone from using a proverb they know.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Tsumo and its content on your own devices, for your own non-commercial use. You may share tsumo with others using the app's share features (for example a share image or copied text).
You may not, without our written permission:
- copy, republish, sell or distribute our content in bulk, for example by building a database, app, book or website from it;
- use our audio recordings outside the app;
- copy, change, decompile or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it.
5. Free and Premium
- Free: Tsumo is free to download. Without Premium you can use a selection of tsumo, and the Tsumo of the Day is always open to everyone.
- Premium unlocks every tsumo in the app, with meaning, usage, audio and related tsumo, and the other Premium features we describe in the app and on our website.
- No adverts. Tsumo has no adverts, whether you use it free or with Premium.
- We choose which tsumo are free and may change that selection. We may add tsumo and features over time.
6. Premium is a one-time lifetime purchase
- Premium is a one-time purchase. You pay once and keep Premium on your account for as long as Tsumo is available. There is no subscription and nothing renews.
- You can buy Premium in the app (App Store or Google Play) or on our website (section 8). The price is shown before you buy.
- Premium belongs to the account you bought it on (or, for a website purchase, the account you redeemed it on), on that platform only. We can't move it to another account later.
7. Buying in the app (App Store and Google Play)
- In-app purchases are made through Apple's App Store or Google Play and are subject to their terms. Apple or Google takes your payment; we never see your payment details.
- To get Premium back on a new device, sign in to Tsumo with the same account and tap Restore purchases.
8. Buying on our website
- Seller: when you buy Premium on nhakabox.com, you buy it from NhakaBox. We are the seller.
- Price: US$1.99 or €1.99, depending on your currency, as shown at checkout. The price includes VAT where it applies.
- Payment: the checkout is run by RevenueCat (RevenueCat Web Billing), and your payment is processed by Stripe. We never see your full card details.
- Receipt and redemption link: after payment, RevenueCat emails you a receipt and a one-time redemption link. We also show the link on the confirmation page.
- Unlocking Premium: open the link on your phone. It opens Tsumo and attaches Premium to the account you are signed into. You need to be signed in, and you need a version of Tsumo that supports redeeming website purchases (see the FAQ). The link expires after a while; opening an expired link sends you a new one by email.
- Which account: Premium is added to the account that opens the link, on that platform only (iPhone or Android). Open the link on the device and account you want Premium on.
9. Right of withdrawal (website purchases, EU consumers)
If you are a consumer in the EU, you normally have the right to withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days without giving a reason.
Premium is digital content that we deliver straight away. At checkout we ask you to:
- agree that we start delivering Premium immediately, before the 14 days are over, and
- confirm that you understand you lose your right of withdrawal once delivery starts.
If you give both, you lose the right of withdrawal as soon as Premium is made available to you (when we send the redemption link). Your receipt email confirms this.
If you did not give both, you can withdraw within 14 days of your purchase by emailing tsumo@nhakabox.com with your order details and a clear statement that you withdraw. We refund you within 14 days, using the same payment method, and remove Premium from your account.
For purchases in the App Store or Google Play, Apple's or Google's rules apply instead (section 10).
10. Refunds
- App Store and Google Play purchases: Apple or Google handle refunds under their own policies. Ask them through your Apple ID or Google Play account.
- Website purchases: email tsumo@nhakabox.com with your order details. We look at each request fairly.
- If a purchase is refunded, Premium is removed from your account.
- If Premium doesn't work as we described, you have the rights that consumer law gives you, such as having it fixed or getting a (partial) refund. These terms don't limit those rights.
The refund policy for NhakaBox boxes and other physical products does not apply to Tsumo Premium.
11. Old Tsumo subscriptions
Tsumo no longer sells subscriptions. If you paid for one of the old monthly or yearly Tsumo subscriptions before 4 October 2026, you keep Premium permanently, at no cost, as long as the subscription was not refunded. Sign in on the same platform and, if needed, tap Restore purchases with the same Apple ID or Google account. You don't need to buy Premium again.
12. Your content: suggestions and leaderboard names
- Suggestions: when you send a tsumo, correction or idea through "Suggest a Tsumo", you allow us to use it free of charge to improve Tsumo, for example by adding a tsumo to the collection, editing it and translating it. We don't have to use a suggestion, and we don't pay for suggestions. Only send content you have the right to share.
- Leaderboard names are shown to other Tsumo users, together with your score. Choose a name that is not offensive, does not pretend to be someone else, and does not contain personal details such as phone numbers or addresses. We may remove or change names that break these rules.
13. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- use Tsumo for anything unlawful or harmful;
- try to get around Premium, the leaderboard rules or our security, or cheat in the game;
- overload, scrape, attack or interfere with the app or our servers, or access them other than through the app;
- use someone else's account without permission.
14. Ending your use of Tsumo
- You can stop using Tsumo at any time. You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account) or as described in our Privacy Policy. Deleting your account does not give you a refund.
- We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Unless the law or safety prevents it, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
- Purchases from the App Store or Google Play stay with your Apple ID or Google account, so you can restore them on a new account. For a website purchase on a deleted account, email us.
15. Availability and changes to Tsumo
- We work to keep Tsumo available and correct, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or when you are offline.
- We may change Tsumo, its features and content, and we may ask you to update the app to keep using it. We won't take away features that are part of Premium without good reason, such as a legal requirement or a security problem.
- If we ever stop offering Tsumo, we will tell you in advance where we can.
16. Our liability
- Tsumo is a learning and reference app. We take care with the translations and explanations, but they may contain mistakes and are not professional or academic advice.
- We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not acting with reasonable care. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses.
- Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Premium, except where the law does not allow such a limit.
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that can't be limited or excluded by law. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when Tsumo or the law changes. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using Tsumo and delete your account. Changes don't affect Premium you have already bought.
18. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Dutch law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.
If you have a complaint, please email us first. We aim to reply within 14 days.
